PRIVACY POLICY

The privacy of our visitors to this site is important to us.

We recognize that privacy of your personal information is important. Here is information on what types of personal information we receive and collect when you use and visit this site, and how we safeguard your information.  We never sell your personal information to third parties. This site has relationships with other companies that we allow to place ads on our web site.

Log Files

As with most other websites, we collect and use the data contained in log files.  The information in the log files include  your IP (internet protocol) address, your ISP (internet service provider, such as AOL or Shaw Cable), the browser you used to visit our site (such as Internet Explorer or Firefox), the time you visited our site and which pages you visited throughout our site.

Under no circumstances does this site request or collect sensitive Personally Identifiable Information (PII), such as an Internet user’s medical/health conditions; racial or ethnic origins; political, religious, or philosophical beliefs or affiliations; trade union membership; or sexual preferences.

Occasionally, we may also use the information we collect to notify you about important changes to our Website, new services, and special offers we think you will find valuable. You may notify us at any time if you do not wish to receive these offers by emailing us at the link provided on the newsletter.

Cookies and Web Beacons

We do use cookies to store information, such as your personal preferences when you visit our site.  This could include only showing you a popup once in your visit, or the ability to login to some of our features, such as forums.

We also use third party advertisements on this site to support it.  Some of these advertisers may use technology such as cookies and web beacons when they advertise on our site, which will also send these advertisers (such as Google through the Google AdSense program) information including your IP address, your ISP , the browser you used to visit our site, and in some cases, whether you have Flash installed.  This is generally used for geotargeting purposes (showing New York real estate ads to someone in New York, for example) or showing certain ads based on specific sites visited (such as showing cooking ads to someone who frequents cooking sites).

As already stated, some of the advertisers on our site may use cookies or web beacons.  Some of our advertising partners may include:

Commission Junction

Amazon

Google Adsense

Clickbank

-as well as other advertisers

This site has no access to or control over these cookies that are used by third-party advertisers.  You should consult the respective privacy policies of the third-party advertisers for more detailed explanations of their practices.  Please remember that when you use a link to go from our Website to another web site, our Privacy Policy is no longer in effect.

DoubleClick DART cookies

We also may use DART cookies for ad serving through Google’s DoubleClick, which places a cookie on your computer when you are browsing the web and visit a site using DoubleClick advertising (including some Google AdSense advertisements).  This cookie is used to serve ads specific to you and your interests (”interest based targeting”).  The ads served will be targeted based on your previous browsing history (For example, if you have been viewing sites about visiting Las Vegas, you may see Las Vegas hotel advertisements when viewing a non-related site, such as on a site about hockey).  DART uses “non personally identifiable information”.  It does NOT track personal information about you, such as your name, email address, physical address, telephone number, social security numbers, bank account numbers or credit card numbers.  You can opt-out of this ad serving on all sites using this advertising by visiting http://www.doubleclick.com/privacy/dart_adserving.aspx

You can choose to disable or selectively turn off our cookies or third-party cookies in your browser settings, or by managing preferences in programs such as Norton Internet Security.  However, this can affect how you are able to interact with our site as well as other websites.  This could include the inability to login to services or programs, such as logging into forums or accounts.

Deleting cookies does not mean you are permanently opted out of any advertising program.  Unless you have settings that disallow cookies, the next time you visit a site running the advertisements, a new cookie will be added.

Information Sharing

We may disclose information when legally compelled to do so, in other words, when we, in good faith, believe that the law requires it or for the protection of our legal rights. We may also disclose account information when we have reason to believe that disclosing this information is necessary to identify, contact or bring legal action against someone who may be violating our Terms of Service or to protect the safety of our users and the Public.

Children’s privacy and Spam

This site is very sensitive to the issue of children’s privacy and makes every effort to protect the privacy of children using the Internet.  It is possible that this site’s website, products and/or services may not be appropriate for or directed at children.  Children (under the age of 18) are not eligible to do business with us and we do not collect personal information from any person we actually know is under the age of 18.

This site is committed to proper Internet practices and full-compliance with the CAN-SPAM Act of 2003.  It is our policy to prohibit the sending of unsolicited or ‘spam’ email by this site.

Please note that under the CAN-SPAM Act, an advertiser is required to provide an opt-out mechanism for consumers to unsubscribe from future emails about the advertiser.  Although not required by law, many email marketers also include an opt-out mechanism to be removed from their mailing lists.  This site allows visitors to unsubscribe so that they will not receive future messages. After unsubscribing we will discontinue sending the particular messages as soon as technically feasible.

Data Processing/Safe Harbor

The European Union (‘EU’) has strict privacy laws and these rules differ significantly from US laws.  To reconcile these differences, the US and the EU have created a Safe Harbor that defines mutually acceptable privacy operations.  This site adheres to the Safe Harbor principles.  For more information see www.export.gov/safeharbor.  Please note that your information will be stored and processed on our computers in the United States. The laws on holding personal data in the United States may be less stringent than the laws of your Country of residence or citizenship.

It is the express will of the parties that this agreement and all related documents have been drawn up in English.

Policy Modifications

This site may find it necessary or be legally obligated to update this Privacy Policy from time to time.  When we do, we will post the changes on this page and update the effective date so that you are always aware of the information we collect, how we use it and under what circumstances we disclose it.  Except as otherwise required by law, modifications to this Privacy Policy will not affect the privacy of data collected by this site prior to the effective date of the privacy change.

Acquisition or Changes in Ownership

In the event that the web site (or a substantial portion of its assets) is acquired, your information would be considered part of those assets, and may be part of those assets that are transferred.

Your Consent

By using our Web site you consent to our collection and use of your personal information as described in this Privacy Policy. We reserve the right to amend this privacy policy at any time with or without notice.
